Howard Crane designed the theatre with an Italian Renaissance style. Howard Crane, who designed Detroit’s landmarks such as the Fox Theatre, State Theatre and Orchestra Hall. Having 3,500 seating capacity it was the fifth largest theater in the US during its time. Located in Downtown Detroit’s Entertainment District, the theatre formerly known as Capitol Theater opened its doors on January 12, 1922.
